R (R multiple): meaning in trading
R is the amount you risk on a trade. Results in R (+3R, -1R) compare trades fairly whatever the size.
If you risk £100, then 1R is £100. A trade that makes £300 is +3R; a full stop out is -1R.
Measuring in R takes the money (and the emotion) out of the numbers, and lets you compare a small demo account with a large funded one. Our results and journal are all shown in R for that reason.
